LAFAYETTE PRESBYTERIAN
CHURCH
A STEPHEN MINISTRY CONGREGATION

“Each one should give, then, as each has
decided, not with regret or out of a sense of duty, for God loves those who give gladly.” 2 Corinthians 9:7

INCREASE

Stewardship, giving and using resources, is multifaceted.

Responsive stewards find ways to increase God’s gifts. Outside of pledges,
which are one way, stewards offer time and service.

God’s stewards, at Lafayette Presbyterian Church, give of themselves in
many creative ways to honor and glorify God. One such way is through
Stephen Ministry.

In 2010, the Stephen Ministry program at Lafayette Presbyterian Church
will expand by increasing its Leadership Team.

There are two opportunities for two members of the congregation to use
their time and gifts to train to become Stephen Ministry Leaders.

A Stephen Series Leader’s Training Course is scheduled in Orlando, FL
January 10-16 (registration deadline December 2, 2009) and June 13-19
(registration deadline May 5, 2010.)

Please look in the pocket next to the Stephen Ministry bulletin board where
you will see 2010 Leader Training Course information.

Stephen Leaders John Lown (877.4428); Louise Sadler (878.8410); David Wiszneauckas (559.4422); Sandra Wiszneauckas (894.1833) are available to explore, with you, your interest in using your time and skills to serve God and Christ as a Stephen Ministry Leader.

May each, in this stewardship season, reflect and listen for the many ways God calls upon us, as stewards, to serve.

Thank you, Janet Cox, for creating a Stephen Ministry section in the LPC library and for preparing the books for all to use as resources.

A sample of the books which may currently be found there are: Good to Great, Jim Collins; The Wounded Healer, Henri J. M. Nouwen; Don’t Sing Songs to a Heavy Heart, Kenneth C. Haugk; The Good Listener, James E. Sullivan; Good Grief, Granger E. Westburg; Caring Criticism, William J. Diehm.
