Missionary Doctor Returns on November 15 and 16 ...
Dr. Martha Sommers, Presbyterian Church (USA) medical missionary at Embangweni Hospital, Malawi, will be returning for her first visit with us since 2004. She will be with us at Lafayette Church on Saturday, November 15th and Sunday, November 16th. 
Martha has served in Malawi since 1997. She will be able to share with us the joys and heartaches of living and working in this poorest of countries, but a country where the Christian faith is strong and growing.
Martha, a native of Wisconsin, received a bachelor’s degree in microbiology with a minor in theology from the University of Notre Dame. Her medical degree was earned from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, followed by family practice residency at Marshall University in West Virginia.

On Saturday, November 15th, at 7:00 p.m., we will have an informal gathering at the church to hear from Martha about her work, and the state of medical missions in Africa and Malawi, in particular. A light reception of cookies and beverages will follow.
On Sunday, November 16th, in the morning Service of Worship, Martha will bring us a short message. Earlier that morning, the Sunday School classes will have an opportunity to talk with her at the 9:45 hour.
