DECEMBER NEWS:

A LIVE NATIVITY AT LAFAYETTE
Back by Popular Demand
Lafayette Presbyterian Church Youth present:

A Live Nativity

The youth of our church will be performing a “live” Nativity on the church grounds December 18, 2009, from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Please make plans to drive through and see this special presentation.

Casting Call
Attention actors!!

Actors from ages 5 through high school are urged to participate in this special Advent pageant. Performers interested in trying out for parts in the Live Nativity will receive training and background history for their character parts during our Sunday School hour (9:30 to 10:45).

Additional casting and rehearsals will be held on the December 2nd and 16th Kirk Nights. Scouts are especially invited to join in! Come for catered supper at 5:30; Rehearsals at 6:15.

This presentation will be advertised to our community and promises to be seen by a large audience. Please make plans today to participate in “The Greatest Story Ever Told”.

You may contact Lea Reeves (878-5998) or Bob Henning (878-7479) for more information.

The Chrismon Tree
will be raised in the Narthex on Saturday, December 5th.

Chrismons (a word formed from “Christ” and “monogram”) are gold and
white symbols of the Christian faith that hang to remind us of the endless ways God has been revealed to us.

You are invited to come on December 5th, at 10:00 a.m. to share in hanging the Chrismons!

Christmas Eve Candlelight Service
Our Christmas Eve Candlelight Service will begin at 7:00 p.m.

We will celebrate the coming of Christ, once and again, with traditional Scripture readings and carols, with the beautiful anthems of our choir, and light our candles in honor and worship of Him who comes as the Light of the World. The sacrament of Holy Communion will be celebrated.

If you have family arriving, please bring them with you to worship for the deepening bonds of faith that it brings. You can observe Christmas in many ways, but you can never observe it alone. Rejoice with your church family on Christmas Eve!

We are preparing the Acolyte schedule for the new year. Anyone in the congregation from third grade to adult may participate in Worship as an Acolyte. This is a great experience for anyone wanting to serve the church by bringing God’s light into the worship experience. Please contact Nancy Telander or Phyllis Papka if you would like to join the acolyte team or would like more information about acolyting.
