Christian Education
The Christian Education Committee would like
to Praise God and thank all of the people
who helped make Rally Day 2009 such a special day. I won’t try to
list individuals because
I would leave someone out. But the cooks, the cleanup crew, the
teachers, students, helpers,
parents and families, and everyone else all were blessings. Now, I
urge you to bring your
family and stay for Sunday Bible study at Lafayette. We start a
youth gathering at 9:30
where we share a brief snack time and then tell about our joys,
birthdays, upcoming events,
and prayer concerns. We encourage the children to bring an offering
to put into the Old
Wooden Church when they share their news. The offering will go to
help missions that
Lafayette supports and will help the children learn the joy of
regular giving. Please
encourage your child to bring a penny, nickel, dime or quarter from
their savings or
allowance to give to the Lord. During this same time, the adults can
join others in the
sanctuary for prayer time.
The Bible study classes for all ages begin at 9:45. If you don’t
find a class that suits you or a
family member, please mention it to one of the teachers or Reverend
Lown. In the
meantime, please help make our Sunday Bible study a light to those
in our community. Bring
a friend and learn a lot about yourself, your church, and your God.
CHRISTIAN EDUCATION COMMITTEE:
NO AGE LIMIT!!
CHRISTIAN EDUCATION has no requirements of age, sex, race, Church membership, school education, good looks (or otherwise), or any other possible need except a desire to keep learning about God, Jesus Christ, the Bible and what Christian faith is all about. We never outgrow the need for more understanding of our foundations of faith and how to live it, and how to share it with our families, co-workers, or neighbors. Lafayette Presbyterian has a class for Y O U.
Classes and teachers for 2008-2009 are:
Nursery - Elaine Petford and Diane Papka
Pre-K – 2nd - Denise Vandiver, Steffenie Hancock, Christy Stacey
3rd-5th - Nancy Telander, Lea Reeves
Youth (Middle and Senior High) - Bob and Nancy Henning
Adults #1 - James Peacock
Adults #2 - Coordinator, Marlyn Weinell
The Curriculum for this fall from Pre-K through Senior High will be “We Believe.” The younger children will share stories of many Old Testament persons, how God loves them and calls them to worship and serve. The Youth curriculum will be an in-depth study of the Bible, where to find major Bible passages, and how the story of the Bible flows.
Adults #2 will continue the study of “The Present Word” series, and take a tour of the early Christian Church, its growth, conflicts and controversies. Why can’t we learn from the past!!
Become a regular attendee; join others for the prayer time in the Sanctuary at 9:30 and then classes at 9:45-10:30. See you there!
